Traffic signs and more: Municipal Inventory Management (KIV)

Digitisation has also become a major issue in municipalities and city administrations. There is potential for optimisation in a wide variety of areas – for example, in the management of traffic signs and street furniture. Currently, this is often still done manually, is ineffective and prone to errors. The digital management of traffic signs is a first step towards a digital, municipal inventory management for street furniture etc.

In cooperation with the global standardisation organisation GS1 Germany, oneIDentity+ GmbH has developed a comprehensive system which, among other things, provides a mobile application for cataloguing and monitoring traffic signs. This system – like all oneIDentity+ solutions – is based on the standardised marking of products (in this case the traffic signs) with a unique code which can be scanned by a mobile device at any time.

Municipalities, building yards and their external service providers can use the KIV App to take inventory of their existing traffic signs and later check them as part of the traffic safety inspections required by law. All recorded traffic signs can be easily managed and evaluated via the municipal portal.

Manufacturers of traffic signs benefit as well. By marking your traffic signs with a serialised code directly during production and transmitting it to the KIV platform, you save your customers the time-consuming task of taking inventory, provide additional value-added services and also improve tracking of your products.

Short introduction

Added-value with oneIDentity+

Added-value with oneIDentity+ – serialisation as foundation for the municipal inventory management (KIV)

Provision of serialised codes (labels), compliant with global GS1 standards for the serialization of existing traffic signs as well as extensive functionality for new traffic signs

Mobile KIV App for easy inventory taking and fast & digital check of traffic signs according to the leaflet (MQVS) as per MDV from the FGSV during traffic safety inspections etc.

Powerful portal for municipal employees to manage traffic signs with a map and list view, automatically evaluate soon-expiring traffic signs, display of a traffic sign’s history etc.

Great potential to further expand towards a manufacturer-independent, nationwide system for the complete management of traffic signs and street furniture

The app for municipal inventory management

The mobile KIV app enables municipalities, building yards and their service providers to quickly and conveniently take inventory of existing traffic signs and later check them as part of the traffic safety inspections required by law.

The municipal portal for inventory management

The portal enables municipal employees to manage their traffic signs. Here you will find a map and list view of all municipal traffic signs as well as the display of all details (including the history of a traffic sign). Additionally, soon-expiring traffic signs are evaluated automatically. (The portal is currently still under development).
